This morning it has been announced by the Department for Education that there will be £470 million of capital funding for the repair and maintenance of school buildings in 2025-26.
This funding will go towards small academy trusts and voluntary aided bodies through the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF). This will be distributed to 656 schools and colleges to fund vital projects to improve the school sites, and complete major building work to prevent schools from closing.
In comparison to last years CIF announcement, there is a stark decline in the amount of schools receiving funding, down from 866 projects, across 733 schools and colleges. However, the amount of funding itself has increased, from £423.9 million last year.
The Department for Education is expected to release the list of schools receiving this essential funding later today.
